FUNDING
Innovative ideas cannot get to the marketplace without sufficient funding for
research and development, market studies, manufacturing, professional support
services, packaging, distribution, etc. In short, no business can run without
adequate capital.
Public resources:
The State of Maine has committed funds and resources to support promising,
start-up technology-based companies as part of the state's overall economic
development initiative.
The Maine Technology Institute ("MTI") offers grants of various sizes
to start-up and existing technology-based companies to assist with research and
development leading to commercialization. See

The Small Enterprise Growth Fund of the Finance Authority of Maine
("FAME") is one financing resource for promising new technologies.
